Off to Portugal!

Olá!

It's official. After almost a 7-month hiatus, Bre Dub's Blog is back! With a stressful summer full of agent drama and an autumn plagued by bad economy, I've finally found a situation that is the right fit. Tomorrow afternoon I leave for Funchal, Portugal to play for Div. I CAB Madeira. The island of Madeira is located 540 miles off the coast of Portugal and 360 miles west of Morocco. All away games will be played on the Portuguese mainland - so we will be flying everywhere. I think I can handle that, as the place I will be calling home for the next 6 months looks gorgeous! For some reason I have a feeling I might get some visitors this year...☺

From Finland to Sweden, Switzerland to Poland, Ireland, Belgium and so on, the right combination of things came together in Portugal. I was thisclose to closing with a Polish team (that competes against players like Chamique Holdsclaw, Tamika Catchings and so on) but a lack of consistencies and concrete promises in the contract ultimately made me go with the safe choice. I didn't want to find myself in a situation where I wasn't being paid or getting what was promised. Though the temptation to sign and challenge myself against some of the best in women's basketball was huge, I believe I made the right decision.

I’ve got to finish packing, but I hope you make a habit of visiting my blog, as I will be posting about my new European adventures each week. Let me know when you've stopped by, and leave a comment at the bottom of a post - I'd love to hear from you!

Até à próxima,
-BW

Wow...you are absolutely going to love it there! Beautiful all year around and if you live in the apartment above the gym, you will have an amazing view. I had soooo many good times over there! When you play Olivais, if you have the chance, tell Ze, the coach, hello from me.

I can't wait to keep up on your blog...maybe now you will inspire me to keep up on mine.
